Cesare chronicles the real life story of Cesare Borgia from the eyes of Angelo da Canossa. Angelo is a naive new student who gets tangled up in troublesome situations because of his habit to speak what is on his mind with absolute honesty. Eventually, this brings him into the company of Cesare and his servant Miguel. Cesare disrupts the quiet and innocent life Angelo has led, and with Cesare's help, Angelo begins to see the world as it really is.

Central Characters

The main character, Angelo da Canossa. He is a naive and ignorant young man who knows little of worldly matters. He meets Cesare when the latter saves him from a dangerous ride on a horse. Angelo had a bad habit of running off with his mouth, which gets him in quite an amound of trouble.




Cesare Borgia, the main focus of the story. He is the son of Rodrigo Borgia, who later becomes Pope Alexander VI. Throughout the story, he provides knowledge to Angelo, though much of what he reveals frightens Angelo to some extend. He is always guarded by Miguel, who has served him from childhood.




Miguel, Cesare's long-time servant and friend. He knows Cesare's kindness and humanity. He is also willing to do anything it takes to protect Cesare, because he considers it his life's purpose to serve Cesare. After telling Angelo this, he also tells Angelo he will even kill Angelo if he should become a danger to Cesare.
